Cairo –13th February 2013–We are thrilled to announce that archaeologist, Fulbright scholar and National Geographic Explorer Dr.Chris Begley has become part of our team of expert presenters at Past Preservers People.
Chris is currently living in Kentucky, USA, where he is an associate professor of Anthropology at Transylvania University. While he spends half of his time teaching and writing, Chris spends the other half partaking in various archaeological projects. His work mainly focuses in the Mosquito Coast of Honduras, where he can be found hiking, camping, and excavating and mapping newly discovered sites in the jungle. Chris is an avid underwater archaeologist who is involved in various projects across the globe.
“I am very passionate about sharing my experiences with people that do not normally get to have such experiences,” says Chris. “I try to make my projects accessible in a number of ways, including bringing non-scientists along to help. I lead adventure travel trips that combine the excitement of a trip through the jungle, whitewater rafting, or mountain climbing with a scientific and educational component. These can be life-changing trips for the participants, and I love helping that happen.”
Dr. Begley’s passion for sharing his experiences and knowledge is shown through his work as director of The Exploration Foundation a group that promotes educational and adventure travel.
CEO and Founder of Past Preservers, Nigel Hetherington, is delighted with this new addition to the team and says, “Chris’s enthusiasm for sharing his knowledge with people, mixed with his incredible understanding of the past, will make him an excellent addition to Past Preservers People.”
As well as working on several archaeological projects, Chris has appeared alongside Ewan McGregor and Ray Mears in the documentary “Trips Money Can’t Buy” for the BBC, “Cave of the Glowing Skulls” on the Discovery Channel, and has acted in independent films.
